Acute poisoning.
Acute poisoning is characterized by symptoms of deep depression of the central nervous system, the stage of arousal is replaced by coma. The victim loses consciousness, the body temperature decreases, the skin becomes moist, cold to the touch, the pulse is rapid, weak filling. Asphyxia, cyanosis, and decreased cardiac activity appear. Delirium, convulsions, and involuntary discharge of urine and feces also begin. Death can occur from paralysis of the respiratory tract and decreased cardiac activity.
Help:
• Gastric lavage, intestinal cleansing – siphon and cleansing enemas. During flushing, the amount of fluid injected and excreted should be strictly controlled in order to avoid perforation of the stomach. The procedure should be performed lying on your side with your head slightly lowered. The enema is performed on the left side with the knees bent to the stomach.
• Help with vomiting (avoid aspiration of vomit).
• Cardiac glycosides for the prevention of heart failure.
• Intravenous administration of detoxification therapy (sodium bicarbonate, saline solution, glucose with insulin)
• Forced diuresis using osmotic diuretics or sauretics. Furosemide, urea, and lasix are used. The method is indicated for most intoxications, it allows the removal of toxic substances up to ten times faster.
• Therapeutic hyperventilation helps if a person is poisoned by gases or other substances that enter the body through the lungs.
Keep a close eye on changes in blood pressure. With early detection of the cause of poisoning and timely assistance to the patient, complications do not develop. The most common poisoning cases are caused by alcohol and its substitutes. In addition to the known symptoms of intoxication, a person may lose consciousness, experience moderate tachycardia, vomiting, decreased muscle tone, and disorientation. There are two types of acute poisoning: domestic and occupational. Diagnosis begins with the patient's medical history (What did he take? What was he drinking? In what dose? Where was he?). 1
Acute poisoning is usually very severe and violent. Although it does not last long, it often leads to the death of the victim, so at the first symptoms of poisoning you should seek qualified medical help. Without the help of doctors, you are putting yourself or another injured person in mortal danger.
